“Simple, Swaadisht Ghar ka Khaana. Because your taste buds deserve the very best.”
How Kanak Tiffins Began… The Tale of a Fortunate Accident. (Or was it fate?)
Kanak Tiffins was born as a small, home-run enterprise, called "Kanak Snacks & Sweets", that made Farsan, snacks and mithai. One day, the proprietor of a neighbourhood hostel came to us. His cook had left on a 2 months’ vacation back to his hometown. Could we help out? We thought we could.
From such humble, fortuitous beginnings, Kanak Tiffins was born.
The Growing Years…
We have literally gone door to door! Printed pamphlets in hand, we walked the length and breadth of our neighbourhood, promising our prospective patrons the best of simple home-cooked fare. Slowly, word got around, and we started receiving enquiries. Satisfied customers told their friends about us. A few months later, we received our first orders from outside our immediate area. It was time to enlist the help of Mumbai’s famous dabbawallas to help us deliver our meals!
Our First Milestone!
One day, Central Mall in Goregaon called with an order – 360 dabbas of Vegetable Biryani. The catch was – our cooks (Maharaj, as we call them) had never prepared Biryani before. In their enthusiasm, they made much more than was required for 360 dabbas.
But guess what? Our customers called us back – they had enjoyed our Biryani so much, they wanted to order some more!
Spreading Our Wings … All Over Mumbai
As our customer base grew, so did the number of locations to which we delivered meals. Our story is a living example of how good quality products and attentive customer service can help a business grow like nothing else can. Most of our customers have come to us not by solicitation, but because someone who orders from us, recommended us highly. So an HDFC employee who shifted from Sion to Worli, insisted on her new office friends giving us a trial. A doctor at KEM hospital heard about us from his fiancé who works at Sion Hospital, and got all his colleagues hooked. Today, we supply tiffins from Vikhroli to Colaba and Goregaon to Nariman Point, and are thinking of expanding even further.
