“Food, in the end, is something holy. It's not about nutrients and calories. It's about sharing. It's about honesty. It's about identity.”

Life occasionally gives each one of us the opportunity to go beyond our own aims, and contribute to society in a meaningful way. We were presented with one such opportunity to do our bit, during the Nepal earthquake in April 2015.
Kanak Tiffins were proud to be approached by Sion Welfare Forum and Navyug Group, who asked us to make theplas to be sent out as food aid to the camps in Nepal. Eager to help, we knew that the only way we would be able to go ahead would be if we temporarily suspended our regular tiffin services. We informed our customers of our plans via SMS. They were warmly supportive and very enthusiastic; many of them wanted to contribute to the cause themselves, by sending funds, food and medicines. For example, both Sion and KEM Hospitals, upon learning of our initiative, sent us several cartons of packaged drinking water and medicines to send to the camps.
We were happy to be able to join in the relief efforts in our small, humble way, and are also grateful to all our supportive and understanding customers who permitted us to go ahead, and even joined hands with us in our efforts.
